Chartered in 1832, Strasburg Rail Road is the oldest continuously operating standard-gauge railroad in the Western Hemisphere and one of America’s most beloved heritage railways. Located in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch Country, this iconic steam railroad offers 45-minute round-trip excursions through more than 2,500 acres of working Amish farmland. Passengers ride in authentically restored turn-of-the-century wooden passenger cars hauled by one of five magnificent working steam locomotives. The railroad is home to the only operational wooden dining car in the United States, where guests can enjoy freshly prepared meals while rolling through the scenic Lancaster County countryside. Year-round themed events include the Day Out with Thomas, Wine and Cheese Train, Easter Bunny Train, and the beloved Polar Express holiday ride. On-site attractions include a miniature steam train ride, pump cars, gift shops, and Cafe 1832. The railroad’s expert mechanical shop staff restores and maintains historic rolling stock for clients across the country, preserving America’s rail heritage one locomotive at a time.
