The Saratoga Corinth & Hudson Railway (SC&H) is a premier heritage railroad that brings history to life along a scenic stretch of the former Adirondack Branch in the southern Adirondack Mountains. Operating out of the historic Corinth Station, the railway utilizes a section of track originally established in 1864 by Dr. Thomas Durant, the vice president of the Union Pacific Railroad, who intended the line to open the wilderness to industrial mining and elite tourism. Today, the SC&H maintains this legacy by operating a fleet of vintage ALCO locomotives, including the historic ALCO 5, a 660hp S-1 switcher built in 1947, and several restored RS-3 units that once served the Delaware & Hudson. Passengers can choose from various immersive environments, such as the climate-controlled 1950s “Palmer Falls” lounge car—originally built for the Great Northern Railway—or the “Macoy Hicks” deluxe coach. For a truly unique perspective, the railway offers a VIP Locomotive Cab Ride, allowing a single guest to sit alongside the engineer to see firsthand how these massive machines are operated.
