The Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum in North Judson, Indiana, preserves the proud railroad heritage of a town that was once served by four major railroads — the Erie, Pennsylvania, Chesapeake & Ohio, and New York Central — and at its peak saw 125 trains passing through daily. Founded in 1988 and housed in a former Erie Railroad facility, the museum maintains over 30 pieces of historic rolling stock and operates one of the largest museum signal systems in North America, including the restored Grasselli Tower interlocking. Diesel excursions running 10 to 20 miles round-trip depart from the North Judson depot from May through October on Saturdays, with additional steam excursions offered on select dates each summer. Popular seasonal events include the Easter Train, Steam Ice Cream Trains, and Steam Pumpkin Trains in the fall.
