The Arcade & Attica Railroad is a cherished heritage steam railroad in western New York that has been delighting passengers for over a century, operating vintage coal-fired steam locomotives through the gently rolling farmland and woodlands of Wyoming County. This beloved short line, originally built in 1881, offers 90-minute roundtrip excursions between the historic village of Arcade and the farming community of Curriers on summer and fall weekends. The railroad’s steam locomotive fleet includes several magnificently maintained examples dating from the early 20th century, and the sight and sound of a working steam train winding through upstate New York’s pastoral countryside is genuinely transporting. Open observation cars, vintage wooden coaches, and a caboose make up the colorful train consist. The railroad is particularly popular during the fall foliage season when the surrounding maples and oaks turn brilliant shades of red, orange, and gold. Special events include themed excursion days, train robbery reenactments, and the annual Day Out with Thomas. The Arcade & Attica Railroad is operated by a dedicated team of professional railroaders and volunteers who take great pride in maintaining the authenticity and charm of this remarkable survivor from the age of steam.
